Over the course of its 30-year history, the Babe Ruth Museum’s mission has evolved to not only feature the greatest baseball player ever, but also to present the rich and storied histories of Baltimore’s Orioles and Colts. Upon the opening of Sports Legends at Camden Yards in 2005, those artifacts moved into a new and larger home at Camden Station. Meanwhile, the Birthplace has reverted to its original mission to feature exhibits on the life and times of George Herman “Babe” Ruth.
Sports Legends at Camden Yards opened to the public on May 14, 2005. From Johnny Unitas to Cal Ripken Jr., Sports Legends at Camden Yards showcases the achievements and careers of the best athletes from a wide variety of sports in Maryland. It enables fans to enjoy a unique look at the impressive athletes who defined and forever changed the world of sports. Sports Legends at Camden Yards occupies the basement and first floor of Camden Station, adjacent to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. With 22,000 square feet of artifacts and interactive exhibits, it has become one of the most spectacular sports museums in America.
