Ex-Maryland Coach Gary Williams to break down Terrapins’ 2002 NCAA basketball championship

By Liz Clarke, Washington Post

Maryland fans may not have a rooting interest in this year’s NCAA Tournament. But they can celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Terps’ 2002 National Championship victory over Indiana with none other than former coach Gary Williams in a special program at the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards on March 28.

Billed as “An Evening with Gary Williams,” the program will feature Williams breaking down the championships game and fielding questions on the Terps’ title run and his 40-year career in coaching.

Ticket-holders will have a chance to get their picture taken with Williams and get an up-close look at the national championship trophy. And the truly brave among them can even get a look at the sweat-stained suit that Williams wore during the game.

The program begins at 5:30 p.m., Tickets cost $100. For details, email Whitney Edmonds at WhitneyE@BabeRuthMuseum.com or call (410) 727-1539, ext. 3033. Proceeds benefit the Babe Ruth Birthplace Foundation.
