Gabe, just hanging out.

Gabe was adopted by John and Carolyn Maroon in 2005 after a successful racing career in Florida. He quickly became a part of the family until his passing.
During his life, Gabe, aside from being a wonderful pet, was featured in the Baltimore area in The Baltimore Sun, the Howard County Times, WBAL TV and WMAR TV. He served as a part-time spokesman for the Maryland chapter of Greyhound Pets of America and his community outreach included appearances for GPA and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Maryland.
He took part in many events to encourage people to adopt greyhounds and became a celebrity in Ellicott City and throughout the Maryland greyhound world.
He did all of this, of course, when he wasn’t busy eating, sleeping or playing.
In 2009 he was stricken with bone cancer. In August of 2009 his leg was amputated and he began chemotherapy. He adjusted beautifully to life with three legs and had as much energy and love for life as ever. Unfortunately the disease progressed and ultimately ended his life.
He remains the Maroon PR Mascot and made a lasting impression on his family and all who came to know him.
