Cal Ripken, Jr. Best selling author of six books covering a number of topics including baseball instruction, parenting, business, a children’s book and novels.

All of Ripken’s books have landed on respective best seller lists and this is a result of Cal’s trusted brand, excellent writing and a PR push that gives his works the exposure they deserve.

His latest books will be a series of novels aimed at middle school aged kids published by Disney Hyperion. The first book is “Hothead” that tells the story of Connor Sullivan, an All-Star 12 year old shortstop who has to combat his temper to succeed. The second book, coming in March of 2012, will focus on the subject of bullying in school.

Ripken promotes his books with tours to key markets, book signings and a media blitz that includes sports media, literary press and general mass audience media outlets. Maroon PR is at the lead of all of them and works closely with the publishers to guarantee success.

Grace Before Meals: Recipes & Inspiration for Family Meals & Family Life by Fr. Leo
In 2010, DoubleDay Religion – a division of Random House – published Father Leo Patalinghug’s (“Fr. Leo”) third edition of his Grace Before Meals cookbook.

The book brings together Fr. Leo’s favorite recipes to families everywhere in a fun, engaging format, offering a collection of recipes and reflections for coming together as a family in the kitchen and around the dinner table.

Utilizing Fr. Leo’s platform in the Catholic religion, Maroon PR worked closely with the public relations team from Random House to set up a series of events to promote the book in key markets such as New York, Washington, D.C. and Chicago.

Events included a launch party at New York City’s St. Paul’s church, a Wine Dinner at the National Press Club featuring Fr. Leo and an appearance at “Taste of Chicago.” The firm also identified key religious media and secured opportunities for Fr. Leo to promote the book on The 700 Club, the Catholic’s Next Door on Sirius/XM, Guideposts.org and numerous others.

In addition, Maroon PR was able to promote the book through various food media and regional affiliate television news outlets in markets where Fr. Leo was conducting speaking engagement. A Facebook page was also created for the book, which has garnered over 1,000 fans and growing in just a few months.

One Helluva Ride: How NASCAR Swept the Nation by Liz Clarke
In February 2008, Washington Post sportswriter Liz Clarke released her first book entitled, “One Helluva Ride: How NASCAR Swept the Nation.” Her close relationships with racers and vast experience covering NASCAR, allowed Clarke to give readers an in-depth look at the full-throttle rise and reign of the sport.

Maroon PR worked closely with Clarke to promote the book’s launch, focusing on key NASCAR markets around the country and utilizing opportunities to further position her as an expert on the sport. Our firm secured interviews with local and national media outlets, such as XM Radio, and an in-depth NASCAR series entitled Trackside 101 on The Comcast Network. Additionally, Maroon PR provided Clarke with guidance surrounding national interview opportunities during Speed Week at NASCAR’s Daytona 500.

Baseball America Prospect Handbook
Baseball America is the nation’s leading baseball resource, with in-depth coverage of up-and-coming players at every level of the game. Each year, the company produces a Prospect Handbook that serves as the industry’s definitive annual reference guide to the next generation of rising stars. In 2007, Maroon PR coordinated media tours and release events in Chicago and New York. We arranged for Baseball America’s Editors-in-Chief, Will Lingo and John Manuel, to host roundtable discussions with baseball fans at the Borders Books & Music store in key locations in both cities, including the store on Wall Street in New York City. Our firm arranged strategic media opportunities that included WFAN Radio & ESPN 1050 in New York, WGN & 670 the Score in Chicago and national Sporting News Radio.
