California is America's "Best Football State" - Good Morning San Diego on KUSI-TV
California has received national distinction winning the 2008 USA Football Governor’s Award, recognizing it as the country’s “Best Football State.”
The Award is based on a study conducted by the George Mason University Center for Sport Management. A range of criteria was measured by state, including the number of high school football programs per capita, the number of college football All-Americans per capita, birth states of 2008 NFL draftees, and other metrics of participation and enthusiasm. Following are the top five states ranking in the study: California, Texas, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
USA Football Executive Director, Scott Hallenbeck appeard on KUSI TV's Good Morning San Diego to discuss the Award, what it means to the State of California and the presentation of the Award to A.G. Spanos, the San Diego Chargers Vice President and Executive Officer.
