SPORTS LEGENDS MUSEUM AT CAMDEN YARDS UNVEILS NEW & IMPROVED BALTIMORE RAVENS GALLERY
New Gallery Includes the Ravens’ Super Bowl XXXV Trophy & 2008 Team Artifacts
Baltimore, MD – Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards today announced that it will unveil an updated and enhanced gallery honoring the Baltimore Ravens when the team kicks off the NFL season at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, September 13th.
The new gallery was made possible through a partnership between the Museum and The Michael A. Fiorelli Foundation, an organization established in honor of the late Ravens’ employee and designed to promote awareness and education of esophageal cancer. The updated gallery contains three times the amount of artifacts and audio/visual elements than were previously on display, including the Ravens’ Super Bowl XXXV Lombardi Trophy. This item is on loan from the Ravens and will be featured in the exhibit until November 1st.
“The entire city is energized about the upcoming Ravens’ season and we, as the Museum dedicated to celebrating our local sports culture, are thrilled to play our part in that excitement with the unveiling of our enhanced Ravens’ Gallery,” stated Michael Gibbons, executive director of the Babe Ruth Museum, operators of Sports Legends Museum. “We are also grateful to The Michael A. Fiorelli Foundation for their generosity. This new exhibit would not have been possible without their support.”
Along with the championship trophy, the exhibit contains a number of new artifacts profiling the Ravens’ history in Baltimore. Among those items are the 1997 jersey of the team’s first quarterback, Vinny Testaverde; the Super Bowl jersey of Michael McCrary; the 2007 jersey of Steve McNair; Ozzie Newsome’s notes on quarterback Joe Flacco prior to the 2008 NFL Draft; Derrick Mason’s 2008 cleats; and two new videos chronicling the history of the Ravens and their 2008 season.
The Babe Ruth Museum operates both Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards and the Babe Ruth Birthplace. Located adjacent to Oriole Park, Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards consists of 22,000 square feet of artifacts and interactive exhibits profiling Maryland’s sports history. The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sports Legends Museum is also the home of the official Ravens’ Team Store, also open daily between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
